On Thursday July 26, Councilmember Mitchell Englander attended the Northridge South Neighborhood Council meeting, where he presented City commendations to two outstanding Board Members in recognition of their work for the community.
Councilmember Englander recognized Christopher Sales, President of Northridge South Neighborhood Council, for his leadership, his efforts to encourage volunteerism, and for being a great community partner with our office on such projects as the Valley Family Festival, Northridge Public Art Project, Citrus Sunday, and the Reseda Blvd. Beautification Campaign.
Councilmember Englander also recognized Sal Pelaez, Chair of the Transportation & Public Works Committee for Northridge South Neighborhood Council. Sal has organized community bike rides around the neighborhood while advocating for safer bike routes. He has worked to increase outreach to diverse ethnic groups in different languages in our community. He also organized the Earth Day environmental clean-up project by Napa Elementary School, which converted a blighted vacant lot into a pocket park.
