LAPD Devonshire PALS Youth Center is also an AWARD WINNING movie studio.

Did you know that our LAPD Devonshire PALS Youth Center is also an AWARD WINNING movie studio?

Back from hiatus, the Making Movies That Matter program is now accepting applications for teens (13-17) interested in the art of film making. The program is presented by the City of Los Angeles and District 12 Councilman John Lee. Participants will have the opportunity to screen their 3-to-5-minute film in front of an audience of thousands in the Soraya Performing Arts Center at Cal State Northridge for the Making Movies That Matter Youth Short Film Festival. Your very own PALS Team will be returning as the most recent recipients of the jury-awarded grand prize. Help us defend our title by sharing your vision with the world!

The program will run for 12 weeks, Fridays from 3:30-5:30 at the PALS Center beginning on March 3rd with required participation in scheduled shooting days. Instructors are working film industry professionals and guest speakers with valuable experience and insight to guide participants. The film festival and red carpet gala will be held at the end of the Spring Semester 2023. There is no fee to participate.
